Art in the Night Skies ~ July 4th Fireworks @West Beach

It was a hot one in New England yesterday. Ideal weather for a perfect summer day celebrating the 4th of July festivities at West Beach. This is my fourth year going with the same group of friends and it’s a tradition I have come to love. The difference this year was I decided to bring some camera gear with me. It was not an easy decision as it’s a long day, it was super hot and sand, as you might guess, is no friend to cameras and expensive prime lenses. But I had decided that I wanted to shoot the fireworks display and play around with different techniques to capture some unique images. Many of them are essentially straight out of camera with a few minor adjustments. Others I did a bit of processing to get the final look I wanted. All are so beautiful.

I never was huge fan of fireworks. It always seems you have to deal with the hassle of crowds and traffic and all that goes along with those two headaches. But I am now a convert. I am in love with these images and really can’t wait to find more to shoot. Hope you enjoy “Art in the Night Skies”. (Note that one of the images looks like hummingbird. Do you see it?)
