I marched in the first No Kings Protest back in June of this year in Seattle with over 70K people. Yesterday’s 2.0 protest on the Boston Common drew more than 100K to continue the fight pushing back against the current administration’s fascist takeover of the United States government. Fighting daily for our democracy and what’s right is overwhelming and exhausting. But there is always something special about joining a massive protest with other caring and like-minded citizens – the energy is invigorating.
I spent most of the rally down in the front listening to the music and speakers including Boston Mayor Michelle Wu who had to contend with yelling counter protesters during her speech and as always rose to the occasion. The last half hour I left the front and headed back into the crowd for a more overall look at the massive turnout. As the event wound down the signs began to pop up all over the Common and Public Garden which is one of my favorite post-protest sights. Here are a few highlights from my day.
